There’s no better way to kick the new year off than a roundup of my favourite designs and I’m sure it won’t come as any surprise to you that it wasn’t an easy task narrowing down my fave products because let’s face it… I love them all! I’ll tell you a little bit about each of my favourite pieces, why I designed them, what the inspiration was and my top tips for styling and displaying each wooden sign.
This was the first product that I launched when I set up the business back in 2020. I’d seen quite a few UK based small businesses on Etsy and big retailers like Hobbycraft selling wooden letters which were laser cut from cheap materials, but I knew that I could make a more premium decorative letter that was made using quality Oak Veneered wood and included colour so that it really stood out from the crowd! Finally, my 3D effect wooden letters were launched, and they’ve been a bestseller ever since.
They’re available to order in two different heights (15cm or 25cm), nine different colours and each letter is made to order to your exact requirements. The coloured section is Perspex Acrylic and the addition of a glossy Black drop shadow gives the letter the illusion of being 3D. I think these individual letter signs look great when they’re incorporated into a colourful gallery wall. Just imagine a small gallery wall full of family photos and cool art prints with Sketch By Sam wooden wall letters displayed in amongst as a finishing touch!
Our baby birth stats sign is a relatively new design but definitely a popular one. Again, I feel like there’s loads of these out there to buy on Etsy, however I wanted to create an engraved sign which looked trendy and modern and was actually something that you’d like to hang in your new babies bedroom. The design is clean with a focus on typography and each wooden pennant banner is finished with subtly engraved stars and dots.
These hanging banners are the perfect gift to celebrate the arrival of a new born baby as they are a great keepsake idea. Featuring those all important details, our wooden baby birth signs include the babies full name, the date of birth, time of birth and how much the new arrival weighs. Obviously we couldn’t design a new sign without including a bit of colour, which is why the name, weight and date is laser cut in Perspex acrylic for maximum impact.
Because who doesn’t love The Beatles? The ‘All You Need Is Love’ wooden heart shaped sign was a completely random design which I made as a one of piece to sell at a local craft market that I was attending. It got snapped up so quickly, that I decided to make another one and it happened again and again and the rest is history! I love this design in particular because there is so little waste product involved in making it, every time I cut this design out using the laser cutter, it essentially makes two signs; one with wooden letters and one with a wooden background. This sign is always a firm favourite at every makers market that I attend and it was the starting point for all of the other motivational quote signs that I make.
I won’t lie… I’ve got no idea where the inspiration for this design came from. It’s another product that I designed back in 2020 and quite simply, I love zebra print. I love stars. Tadaaa! The zebra star was born! It’s a little bit random, but it certainly looks cool stood on a shelf or fixed to the wall.
Due to its popularity, I’ve played around with this design over the last few years. I’ve created a small wooden star version, I’ve tried different animal prints and I’ve even created multicoloured zebra print options; however nothing looks quite as good as the original.
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that this punchy lemon wall art wouldn’t make it into my top 6 designs. I love how vibrant and colourful it is and it is the perfect piece of kitchen art. This uplifting quote has been created using a unique hand drawn font that is laser cut to form the shape of a lemon. I spent quite a long time developing this lemon sign so that it sits slightly on an angle but without being too top heavy and rolling over.
The obvious choice would be to display this in a kitchen, but it would add a burst of citrus yellow to any room. It would work perfectly in a lemon themed bathroom or perhaps included in some cocktail trolley styling.
Last but not least, it’s the giant scrabble letter tiles. Create the ultimate scrabble aesthetic in your home with our wooden wall letters which were obviously inspired by the classic board game. Each letter has the correct corresponding word value in the bottom corner and they’re available to order in 10 different colours for an extra bit of fun.
It’s easy peasy to create scrabble wall art with these individual letters. I think they look best when they’re spelling out a word and it’s completely up to you whether or not you choose multicoloured letters for a colourful home vibe or opt for the same colour for a more modern home aesthetic.
